Formalloy awarded SBIR work through UCSD

Formalloy is pleased announced an award as part of a Government Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program! The mission of the SBIR is to support technical innovation by investing federal research funds in small businesses. The project will be completed under collaboration with the UC San Diego Department of Nano Engineering's Materials Research Center, with Formalloy selected as the provider for a custom 3D metal printing machine. The machine is based on the Formalloy A222 Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) printer. The Research Center has already been using samples printed on the machine for the purpose of performing microstructural analysis of advanced metallics produced by additive manufacturing.
